Patches metadata on up to 1,000 journal entries in one atomic request. Each journal entry may
receive different values. If a journal entry is missing or any key or value is invalid,
nothing is written for any journal entry. Per journal entry this behaves exactly like
patch-journal-entry-metadata: keys omitted for that journal entry are left unchanged; null,
empty, and whitespace-only values clear that key. Metadata changes apply immediately,
without approval, and are allowed in closed periods.
